GUNSMOKE to perform at the Darien Nature Center’s DOWN ON THE FARM
The Darien Nature Center invites families to join in the fun at their annual barnyard bash, Down on the Farm, to be held on Saturday, May 28 (rain date, Sunday, May 29) from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m.
This year’s event will feature the Darien country and western band, Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke has performed at fair and festivals throughout the country for over 20 years and have performed with country legends including Merle Haggart and Willie Nelson.
Voted Band of the Year for four years by the New York Metropolitan Country Music Association, Gunsmoke has also performed for two sitting presidents.
Barnyard animals will be under the big top – sheep, goats, rabbits, donkeys and ducks. Children can also take free pony rides and “milk” a cow – just wait and see!! Lots of farm equipment will also be on hand for climbing and Winston the Whale, the superinflatable will be on site for the day..
Returning again this year is “travel to the treetops”. Children will be able to view the world from its branches, under the supervision of Almstead Tree and Shrub Care, who will oversee this safe and fun climbing activity for children. Children will be hoisted up the big tree next to the Nature Center to the cheers of an admiring crowd!
The drawing of the winners of the Nature Center 2010 Raffle, featuring an array of great prizes, will take place at 1:00 p.m. on May 28, 2010. The Darien Nature Center invites young and old to join in on this fun family outing. Special needs children and their families are invited to a special preview of the barnyard at 9:30 a.m.
The all inclusive admission fee for a family is $25.00, so bring the whole gang! For adults coming to see GUNSMOKE, there will be an admission fee of $15. Refreshments will be for sale. For further information contact the Darien Nature Center at 655-7459.
