Time management, executive functioning and organizational skills are the essential foundation for academic success, allowing students to be more confident and better prepared for school, while providing the critically needed tools for life beyond.
Middlesex Middle School, MMS, will be the location the very popular S4 – Successful Study Skills 4 Students workshop, starting in January. The S4 program is an evidenced-based, scientifically proven, easy-to-implement system for student organization, note taking, test preparation, time management and much more.
Perfectly timed to kick off the New Year, the workshop is the as the sold-out series , held at MMS in November.
Said one mother whose child attended November's workshop; "Thank you so much for showing my son that studying for a test doesn't have to be so stressful. After taking your class, he was easily using some of the tools he learned in your program, and successfully applying them in his school work. Thank you again!"
To complement the middle school-focused workshop at MMS, St. Luke's School in New Canaan, is offering a high schooler version over 2 Saturdays: January 29 and February 5.
Jim Yavenditti, Head of the Upper School at St. Luke's said: "Study skills are the critical and necessary foundation for academic success. We are pleased to host another S4 program on the St. Luke's campus so that high school students in our community may take advantage of these important tools."
Taught by accredited and engaging teachers, the S4 program is based entirely on educational research and proven benchmark studies. The goal of the S4 workshop is to equip students with the skills they need to be successful learners and students.
In a highly participatory and lively presentation, students learn skills and tools they can use in school — and in life. Key taught tools and skills of the program include:

● The Importance of Asking Questions
● Understanding Main Ideas & Important Details
● Active Reading Strategies
