The Tri-State Trek is a 270 mile bike ride from Boston to New York.  We raise money and awareness for ALS and in order to have a successful event we need as many volunteers as possible.  We are looking for local volunteers to come out to 300 Boston Post Rd, West Haven, Connecticut @ University of New Haven on July 23rd 2011, from 1:00PM to 7:00PM.  For more information please visit www.tristatetrek.com  or contact Emily at ewadsworth@als.net

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a neurodegenerative disorder that paralyzes the body but leaves the mind intact. Patients on average live between two to five years. There is no cure or effective therapy.

We ride to change that; and we proudly support the efforts of the world’s leading ALS research facility, the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

A bicycle ride from Boston to New York, the Tri-State Trek takes cyclists through the most scenic and challenging terrain in the Northeast. United by the understanding that we all have the power to affect change, cyclists and volunteers challenge themselves in the hope for an effective therapy.

There are no requirements to volunteer for this ride. We want anyone with a good attitude to help us fight this devastating disease.

In order for the Trek to be a success, we need your help; and we greatly appreciate everything you do for us as volunteers!

• 1st Overnight: Storrs, CT
• 2nd Overnight: West Haven, CT
• Finish Line: Greenwich, CT

These are our 4 largest venues and we need as much help as possible! Feel free to sign up to volunteer at multiple venues.

Volunteers work in 4 hour shifts. Volunteer tasks consist of:

• Food Prep
• BBQing
• Serving food
• Camp set-up and break down
• Unloading rider gear and luggage
• Rider Check-In
• Assisting riders
